Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, a lot of Ukrainians have decided to start business in Poland. According to the Polish Economic Institute, between January and September 2022, 3.6 thousand companies with Ukrainian capital and 10.2 thousand sole proprietorship established by Ukrainian citizens were created.
Due to the further escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, the indiscriminate shelling of Ukrainian cities, and at the same time, bearing in mind the privileges granted to Ukrainian citizens, Ukrainian entrepreneurs are increasingly taking advantage of the alternative scenario, which is to set up and operate a business in our country.
As of June 2023, there were already 29.4 thousand Ukrainian entrepreneurs registered in the CEIDG database. In the first six months of 2023 alone, their number increased by almost 14,000. By comparison, in January 2022, Ukrainian citizens opened only 188 sole proprietorships in Poland.
Ukrainian entrepreneurs are opening companies in Poland in various sectors. Most of them, over 23%, are construction companies. 18% of Ukrainian companies operate in the information and communication sector and 14% in other service sectors. Among services, 85% provide hairdressing and beauty services. The largest number of companies established in the construction sector perform finishing works (29%) and construction works related to the erection of buildings (18%).
The rate of the creation of Ukrainian companies in Poland is still not slowing down. There is no pause after the outbreak of war. Companies continue to be established, operate, and, in all probability, will continue to operate on the territory of the Republic of Poland, thus contributing to the growth of state budget revenues.
